Walk 100kms in 33 hours!

Dear friends,

Well we'd like to say a big massive THANK YOU to everyone out there.
For those we have not caught up with, we managed to limp, walk & shuffle our way to the finish line in 33 hours and 26 minutes. We chose not to sleep during the event, stopping at each of the checkpoints for between 20 & 90 minutes depending on how we were feeling.

Walking through Friday and then Friday night we were all in good spirits and made great progress. The toughest part was Saturday morning when the aches and pains really started to take hold. There were a lot of ups and downs and we'd be lying if we didn't say we hit the wall.

However a break and some rest with our support crew was all we needed to push on again. Thankfully though there were no major injuries in Team 181, just fatigue and soreness, and we managed to get our way through to finish at 7.30pm on Saturday night.

Oxfam organises similar events all over the world and speaking to a few people on the track, we were told that the Sydney event is one of the toughest due the steepness of the terrain.

Our support crew were absolutely wonderful, waking up at all hours of the night to meet us. They fed us, massaged our feet, cheered us up, and never complained about it. Along with an even wider crew of well wishes and supporters who turned up at different checkpoints and at the finish line, we were honoured to have so much support. There is no doubt that the support is DEFINITELY the reason why we were able to make it to the finish.

Walking 100km for no reason is a pretty stupid thing to do, but to walk 100km to make a difference is a far more worthy cause. We were completely blown away by the financial support you all gave us. We thought our target of $5,000 was going to be a challenge. As of today we have literally smashed the goal, and have raised $7,267 for Oxfam Australia. We are very honoured that you would all give up your hard earned cash to support us and support a really awesome charity so thank you again.

That sort of money lets Oxfam build about 50 wells in Sri Lanka, buy about 180 goats or about 2000 fruit trees. There's no doubt there are people around the world better off thanks to your support. All the teams in this years Sydney Trailwalker have raised $2.6million for Oxfam's work around the world!

We've uploaded a few videos to our team page, including one of us shuffling over the finish line. You can check them out at (http://www2.oxfam.org.au/trailwalker/Sydney/team/181).

Thanks again for all of your support
