Time To Go!
Saturday, 26 December 2009

Well, the Project 3:18 team has left us.   A farewell worship was held with the team at church as we wished them well and prayed for their safety and success.

The team was clearly excited to commence their journey to new and unknown places, to serve amongst communities that need assistance.  A few weeks ago, the team was informed that their entire medical suppliers they had sent (over 80kg) was impounded by customs authorities and will be destroyed.  In the last few weeks, the team has been busy gathering together more supplies and they will each take a box of 3 or 4 kilogramswith them.  In addition to children's clothing and school backpacks full of school supplies, the team will be fully loaded!

Backpacks were stripped back to 10 or 12 kgs each for each member.

Some of the team members will be working at a Refugee camp which is on the Burmese border.  Temperatures are expected to get down to freezing overnight there.

Some team members have already left to travel to the region independantly, and will meet up with the team en-route.

While it was an emotional time for some who said goodbye to family members, we all know that the team will come home with great stories to tell, experiences to share, having enjoyed serving communities far away.

Here's some pictures of their departure.

The team will be travelling for more than 24 hours to get to their first destination.
