Our Church History

The first Kellyville Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church was completed in 1893. Since that time, the church has had a very interesting history. Not the least of which was the prosecution of two early Kellyville members in 1894 for working on sunday - contrary to the Sunday keeping law of the time. It was these church members who in fact had donated the original land for the first church.

The story was well reported in the newspapers of the time and generated much interest, debate and opinion. In the end, the Constitution of Australia was amended to allow religious freedom.

A longtime Kellyville church member, author and historian; Daisy Ardley, has spent much time researching the history of Kellyville and has authored two books; "Kellyville - The Pleasant Village" and "Kellyville - The Village Grew".

The history of the Kellyville SDA Church as outlined here has been reproduced from "Kellyville - The Pleasant Village" by kind consent of Daisy Ardley. We thank her for her extensive work and research. Daisy has lived in Kellyville since 1947 and spoken at many history seminars and helped local Council regenerate past events. Daisy and two of her children still attend Kellyville church today.
